Day 3,4,and 5

To start off, Internet access is not good at our hotel... I've been trying to keep the blog updated without much success. We are having an amazing time, other than Garrett and Mallory having the stomach flu the past two days. We have still been able to participate in almost everything, except for an hour this morning when we were cleaning up after Garrett. We have been going over commands and we went to the mall with Garrett tethered to Moose. It was so cool to not have to worry about Garrett bolting off. We kinda got emotional about it after seeing how much of a help Moose will be in our lives. Tracking is indiscribable. Moose is so smart. I am shocked each time he is able to find Garrett. We've gone to three different wooded areas and Moose has tracked Garrett about 250 yards away, although he is able to track him at longer distances. This has truly been an experience of a lifetime. I'll try to post more pictures soon.

Day 1 and 2 of Training

Our first day of training was amazing and exhausting. Moose is such a good, good dog and Garrett is actually already starting to bond with him in his own way. He throws treats to Moose and giggles while Moose follows him around. We have been working on basic obedience mostly to gain trust and respect between us so Moose is more excited to work for us. I think he is starting to get that we are his new family. So far we've done sit and down commands with distractions, and heeling. We are so pleased with Moose and his sweet personality. He loves to play with toys and balls and is very patient with Garrett and Mallory. Little Mallory already adores Moose and actually won't leave him alone. It kinda makes me a little nervous because Moose is so big and she is so little. So far so good. He is so big that it made our drive to and from 4 Paws and the hotel interesting since we are driving a full size 4 door. He could easily take the whole back seat but we have both the kids in the back so he tries to squeeze in on the floor. Tomorrow we will work on tracking so we are excited to see Moose in action. Hopefully I can keep up! I can already tell he has an amazing sense of smell. Stay tuned and I will try to post again soon.
